On March 3, 2020, a group of amazing people from the small town of Montrose, Colorado, will be departing on a journey. This is a journey that will not only help many of the people of Ecuador we will be sharing this experience with, but also grow each other as friends and companions. As of this January, a group of people, including myself, are preparing to go on a mission trip to Ecuador, but we have to raise enough funds to support us going. Our plan to get the funds for this trip is a little strange, so I thought it would be a good idea to share this experience with all of you!

As our fundraiser for the trip, we did singing telegrams!

People could send a message in the form of a song for Valentine’s day to someone and we delivered it to them. We would go door to door and sing songs handing out chocolates and caramel and even play instruments, including a violin, a guitar, and a ukulele to people who purchased a walking telegram. When those people chose, we had a video taken of the person they were sending the telegram to and we posted it either on Facebook or sent it to them directly.

The best part of all this is that the funds will be used to help the people of Ecuador! After receiving almost twenty donations and singing telegrams, we put together our gift packets, got our instruments, and headed towards our first recipient that would receive one of our singing telegrams. This was indeed a blessing to everyone who participated, the people singing and raising money, and also the people receiving or sending these telegrams.

We had a ton of fun giving people this gift, but it was super productive for our mission trip. It was amazing to see people come together and find something joyful and positive. This simple action brightened many people’s days and brought happiness to many families and couples.

All proceeds from the Valentine’s Singing Telegrams will go towards building a church in Ecuador. It was amazing to see how many people gave to us and our cause without question. Those people inspired others to do the same. Even the smaller donations will buildup to something much bigger, to encourage, minster, and help the people of Ecuador!
